Building a Greenhouse from Plastic Pop Bottles

Saturday - May 1st  (10 a.m. - 4 p.m.)

We have all seen those pesky 2-liter plastic bottles littering the countryside.  If you are like us, you have imagined that there must be something useful we could do with that bit of rubbish.

Well, there is...

Come spend the day with us learning how to build your own greenhouse using discarded pop bottles.  You can make a simple little greenhouse - or get elaborate (like we did) and combine the idea of bottle walls with a tire foundation, straw bale construction, rain barrels - just let your imagination run wild.

These simple, attractive little structures actually work quite well... Allowing you to get a head start on your spring planting or keeping your plants green year-round.

The Workshop Agenda includes:

  • Orientation/ quick tour of Blue Rock Station.
  • Framing the greenhouse.
  • Cutting the bottles.
  • Placing and fitting the pop-bottle walls.
  • Putting it all together.
  • Foundation options for your greenhouse.
  • Finishing it off.
  • How to use your greenhouse throughout the year.
  • A lovely 3-course relaxing lunch (only fresh, local ingredients)

This pop bottle greenhouse concept was tested and developed at the Sustainable Communities Initiative in Scotland.

Workshop questions and logistics (such as what to bring, where to stay, meals, local attractions, directions, and the like).

Class size is limited to 15 students, so please reserve your spot early.  You will also see below that deep discounts are available to those who register early.  For reservations, call us at (740) 674-4300, e-mail annie@bluerockstation.com  or register instantly and pay by credit card by clicking the little buttons below...
