What Should I Bring? We will provide most of what you need, but if bugs love you - you may wish to bring some insect repellent (we will be in the woods). Some folks also like to bring along a camera (take as many photos as you wish), and perhaps a water bottle. What Should I Wear? We will be hiking in the woods (the paths are clear, however). But wear comfortable clothing and no open toe sandals (there may be poison ivy about - so good walking boots are recommended). How Strenuous Will this Be? We will take it slow and the walk usually takes about 60 to 90 minutes (with a break in the middle). We will go up and down some pretty steep hills - so be warned. It is certainly not wheel chair accessible, and if you need a cane to walk - you may find the terrain very difficult. Do Llamas Spit? I usually respond, "Do dogs bite?" when asked this question. A llama will spit to tell other llamas to back off. Our llamas are pretty well behaved and have never spit on anyone except if that person got in the way when they were arguing with another llama. What about the Weather? We will head off on the trek rain or shine - except if there is lightning. So we will play it by ear - a little rain is just part of the adventure. If concerned about it, give us a call at 740-674-4300 the morning of the trek. Dress (obviously) for the weather. Can We Take Pictures? Snap away, the more the merrier. Do we Ride the Llamas? No you do not - you walk with them. An adult llama can carry about 100 pounds, but we are nice to ours and don’t ask them to work that hard. I am a Grouch - Can I still come? No, sorry. Only nice people are allowed at Blue Rock Station (just checking to see if you have read this far ;-). How Old do I have to Be? Very young children may not enjoy this. They should be able to walk (without being carried) for 90 minutes without whining (the whining part applies to children of all ages). Can I Bring My Pets? No. Sorry, we have a guardian livestock dog that is very gentle with humans, but will see your pet as a threat and may have it for dinner. Can I Smoke? Sure, we’re not your mother - just not here (and you really should quit anyway). How do I get to Blue Rock Station? Best way is to follow the directions on our site located at http://bluerockstation.com/location.html |
