Rita and Michelle Arrive

11 November 2005

Now our boys, Baxter and JoJo will have a bit of female company.  Two new llamas have arrived - a mother/daughter team named Rita Mae (the mom) and Michelle Belle (the daughter).

Rita had a bit of a rough start in life, living with many other neglected llamas in extremely crowded conditions.  Fortunately she was rescued by Jane Evans of Valhalla Farms (Hopewell, OH).  Unfortunately her abuse has left her very skittish - so she will take quite a bit of work to become as peaceful and good natured as JoJo and Baxter.

Michelle, her daughter, was born shortly after Rita arrived at Valhalla (a bit unexpectedly we might add).

We hope to breed Rita in the Spring of 2006 - so that there will be a cria (a baby llama) born at Blue Rock Station in the Spring of 2007 (llamas carry their young for about a year).
