Our Solar Array

In 2014 we finally pulled the plug (metaphorically) and installed a 3.75 kW array with the help of a dedicated group of volunteers. The array consisted of fifteen 250 W solar panels along with 15 micro inverters. The installation took place over the course of a weekend.

Then in 2019 we decided to double the array’s size – adding another 15 panels and 15 additional micro inverters. Intern Nicholas Anderson helped out, setting the posts and really stepping up during the entire project. Former intern Ryan Evans also came back to help out on the final day of the install.

The expanded array now provides pretty much all the electricity we use here at Blue Rock Station. This includes the power for the Earthship and out buildings, but also all the heated water tanks for the goats and chickens – as well as power for the electric car.
